Ensuring supply-chain security: the role of anti-counterfeiting technologies
A new study prepared by UNICRI on the role of anti-counterfeiting technologies in increasing governments’ and citizens’ safety will be presented during an event co-organized by the World Bank and UNICRI, in the framework of the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development.
The trafficking in counterfeit goods has grown to epidemic proportions across the globe. Currently, replicated goods have infiltrated almost every production sector, such as those of medicines, food and beverages, spare parts, toys, cosmetics, and electrical components.
An Expert Workshop focusing on illegal, counterfeit and substandard pesticides was organized in Turin by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) on 1-2 October 2015.

Counterfeit medicines is a serious problem affecting every country in the world and posing a great danger to patients and citizens at large. The conference which will take place in Turin on 29 January, is organized by the Observatory on Counterfeiting of the Province of Turin, the Turin Chamber of Commerce and PATLIB in cooperation with UNICRI and Italian Customs Agency.
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and ICC Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP) released a new report advocating the confiscation of the proceeds of crime as an effective tool which governments can implement against the infiltration of transnational organized crime into the illicit business of counterfeiting and piracy.
